MVP prototype made with Raspberry Pi to prove concept.
Version 2 prototype hand constructed with wood.
We used ready-made found materials like wooden panels for painting and hand crafted this bad boy.
Designing demo setup and scenario.
After the MVP received a green-light, we worked with a hardware studio to explore form factor.
We explored many variables before settling on a final form factor. The external wall of the device started out with a shiny plastic - in the end a matte finish was the winning choice because a large shiny surface often left unattractive oily finger prints, and this was a product handled frequently by hands.
One of the final prototypes with material/color variation.
Finished product on demo at the Orange Opera flagship store in Paris. The final device was partially 3d printed (interior schematics to lock down wires), side panel and top laser-cut.
In-store demo setup. Orange in-store coaches (similar to Apple genius) would choose between 3 demo scenarios (upload/download, 4k video streaming, and gameplay) to demonstrate the difference between ADSL and Fibre network.
